The Green Connect farm is a source of fair food – food that is good for the people who grow it (fair wages and good jobs), good for the people who eat it (healthy and pesticide-free) and good for the planet (using permaculture and organic principles). We have been growing fair food for over four years and the 11-acre site is flourishing. To continue to do great things, we need a bit of help.

We are recruiting volunteer interns across four roles:

  • Native Regeneration and Biodiversity Internship (x2)
Working on regenerating the native creek line at the Green Connect farm (Fridays)
    Position description | Apply
  • Sustainable Food System Internship (x2)
Working on helping our growing food forest of fruit trees that are not yet at maturity to thrive (Fridays)
    Position description | Apply
  • Food Waste Prevention Internship (x2)
Coordinating days where community groups can come and harvest excess produce to ensure it doesn’t go to waste, and promote healthy eating (Fridays)
    Position description | Apply
  • Fair Food Sales and Systems Internship (x1-2)
Streamlining back-end software and improving the online customer experience (Thursdays)
    Position description | Apply

Interns will gain valuable, hands-on experience in regenerative agriculture, permaculture, horticulture, community nutrition, systems development, volunteer coordination and project management in an engaging and supportive workplace environment. This is also an opportunity to contribute to the Illawarra’s Social Enterprise of the Year 2018 – a business that employs young people and former refugees to do environmental work.

The internships will run from March to November 2019 and require a six-hour commitment each week (days listed above). Applications close 18 February 2019.
